Guwahati, June 16 (NKTV): In an operation conducted by the Forest Department recently, two illegal saw mills along with generators, wood cutting equipment and logs have been seized in Hajo.
However, workers of the mills were successful in fleeing from the premises before they could be apprehended.
Officials of the Forest Department informed that they have information of over 15 illegal saw mills operating in the region; most of them are defunct now because of the pandemic. “Some mills are still operating even in this situation. We shall continue our drive against illegal saw mills in the region until all of them are seized” officials of the Forest Department said.
