Guwahati, June 21 (NKTV): Former Congress MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi from Mariani constituency today officialy joined the BJP in presence of Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
After joining the BJP, Kurmi said that he should have joined the BJP long back. “Modi led BJP formed the Government in Centre in 2019 for the second time. This shows the acceptance among the public” Kurmi said. “The recent elections in Assam showed the same; how the people have voted” he added. He also said said Himanta Biswa Sarma is a true son of Assam.
Kurmi has termed the Congress’ alliance with the AIUDF as a mistake. “Congress has no future in Assam” he said.
CM Sarma said that the BJP has further strengthened with the joining of Kurmi.
