Guwahati, June 03 (NKTV): With the onset of monsoon, Majuli has started witnessing erosion like every year. Subansiri has taken a violent guise at Lower Majuli, leading to heavy erosion at the the Malaya Chapori area.
Locals of the region have undertaken mitigation steps on their own, using bamboos to curb the erosion. “We have been working here since the last three days” said a local. “We do not say that the authorities are not working but it is not enough. We hope that our steps are successful, however, this is not the permanent solution” he said.
Locals have requested Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to look towards their plight and provide a permanent solution.
