Assam Board Exams | Supreme Court’s next hearing on June 21

Guwahati, June 17 (NKTV): The Supreme Court (SC) had asked the Government of Assam to respond on the matter of Board Exams, in a hearing on Thursday.

The hearing took place following a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) Filed by 6,469 parents seeking cancellation of all State Board Class 12 Exams.

The Counsel for the petitioners informed that out of 28 States in India, six conducted Class 12 Board Examinations, 18 States cancelled their Board Examinations while four states namely, Assam, Punjab, Tripura and Andhra Pradesh, have not cancelled the examinations.

The SC order read that the Counsel for the petitioners shall serve the standing counsel for the above-mentioned four States via e-mail. The next hearing on the matter is on June 21.

Along with the writ Petition, an intervention application was also filed by Advocate Abhishek Choudhary.

The PIL stated issues faced by students of states where class 12 Examinations are to be conducted off-line. The petitioners wrote to the Apex Court stating that all State Boards must follow the decision of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and evaluate Students based on alternate methods.
