Meet the Forest Man of Lakhimpur who planted 2.5 lakh saplings

Guwahati, June 06 (NKTV): A 100 hectare barren land in Lakhimpur has been converted to beautiful greenery by planting as many as 2.5 saplings. This has been done under the leadership of an official of the Assam Forest Department, Bombeshwar Gogoi.

“It was during 2016-17 that we started the mission as per government scheme. We started planting around 110 different species of plants to convert the degraded forest area” said Gogoi.

As many as 12,000 saplings of elephant apple have also been planted in the area to serve elephants and curb human-elephant conflict.

It may be mentioned here that Gogoi has also received the CM’s Award for his relentless efforts.
